The 9th MO Bn. of Sharpshooters was one of the units at the Battle of Wilson's Creek. At this time I would guess they still used civilian weapons brought from home unless some other arrangement had been made. As the war progressed the weapon of choice for Confederate Sharpshooters became the .577 Caliber, Pattern 1853 Enfield because it was the most readily available and was a fine weapon for the role. There are records of other weapons being used but the 1853 Enfield seems to be the most widely used.
