Re: 6th MO Cavalry State Militia

Steven, John J. Denton, according to what I have, died in hospital in Springfield, November 27th, 1864 after what was left of the regiment from the Price Raid returned. If he participated in the chasing after Price he was in the field roughly fifty days particpating in the fighting at Moreau, Big Blue, Mine Creek, Second Newtonia. The weather and their diet would not have been good for a man of his age in those days. Prior to the Price raid some 350 men of the regiment became veteran volunteers and cadred the 13th Mo. Vet. volunteer cavalry regimnet. The 6th by then was down to a shadow of its former self. I have visited his grave also along with the others who are buried there.
