By chance has anyone seen or know where Dr. John Hume's collection of interviews and letters reside. I stumbled across a reference in Riverside Regional Library to a Hume letter regarding a non Civil War event in Nigger Wool Swamp that may shed light on the disappearance of my gggrandfather. Sadly they have not a copy of the letter.
I know that some of his work has been cited by the oft derided Ponder but I also know his Hume Family History is quite highly regarded. What I surmise is that he collected various letters and interviews throughout SE and South Central Missouri post reconstruction, similar to what Cyrus Peterson did.
Maybe Ripley Co Historical Society? He lived in Ripley County.
