That's okay. I just thought I may have forgotten to use my Right Guard back in November.

After seeing a little more of your ancestor's information, my first impression that John Wood served in one of the Union militia units that was designated to guard the railroads in Missouri is probably not correct. Someone from near Neosho would probably not be in such a unit, since the nearest railroad during the war was a long ways from there.

The key point is that for rank you see "Train" but I wonder if that is actually or meant to read "Team" for "teamster. Is that possible?

It may help me to know where your John Wood lived as of the 1860 census just before the war to try to identify in what kind of Union unit he served. I don't seem to find him in Newton County (home of Neosho) in that census. Did I just miss him or was he living somewhere else? In what year was he born?
