Capt. Si Gordon could have had some of Quantrill's men with him in the Indian Nations when Colonel Adair gave this report in the "O.R." I saw a 21 March 1864 report ("O.R." series 1, vol. 34, part 2, p. 685) from Union Major General James G. Blunt at Fort Smith that Gordon was in the Sherman, TX area with Quantrill and the west-central guerrillas. Most sources I have read state that Quantrill, Anderson, Todd, and the rank and file rode back to Missouri in April. I can't be sure who the 20 were with Gordon, but they MAY have been some of Quantrill's men moving through that country in small groups on their way back to their operating area to the north.
