The Missouri in the Civil War Message Board

Re: Col Talbot and Thomas Livingston

John,

Thank you for the insight. I will definitely let you know what I find. I am only beginning my search on Livingston and Talbot. I have spent many years researching the life of John Allen Mathews (Confederate "Captain" who lived in present-day Oswego, KS with the Osages) in preparation for a novel I am writing about the last six years of his life. Livingston and Talbot play minor roles in the story, as does James G. Blunt.

There seems to be no shortage of information on Blunt (because he's on the winning side???). Anyone wanting information on John Mathews (and to a lesser extent, Blunt) can feel free to write me.

The manuscript is nearly done, but I want to be sure that I have stayed true to their character (so much as is possible).

- I only wish that I had found this Bulletin Board years ago.

Thanks again.
Steve
