John, Steve, Jim: Sanford Talbot(t) was indeed the colonel. I've been researching him for years. He and Col. J. C. Tracy are the only two MSG colonels who've so far eluded me. I posted on them on this website about 3 weeks ago but didn't get a response.

The Sanford Talbott of Bourbon County, KY was, I believe, not the colonel but rather his cousin. Which is too bad, because I have the Bourbon County man's date of birth and death.
