That's just what I needed. You've settled something of a family argument. Originally, this man, my gg-uncle was supposed to have been a Union soldier. I did some looking and determined that he had been a Confederate soldier in the 1st Missouri Cavalry (CS), but another family member found an article from the St. Louis Republic newspaper that identified this man as a member of the 6th Missouri Infantry. Even though I get a little discount on Compiled Service Records, I still didn't want to have to buy the one for the 6th Missouri just to find out.
