This is what I have on John Van Meter. He was with Archie Clement(s), Jesse James, Jesse Hamlet, Jack Rupe and Willis King when they surrendered May 21, 1865, in Lexington, Missouri. They were fired upon by Federal soldiers while leaving Lexington. Van Meter's horse was shot, but Jack Rupe saved him.
