There is a short Confederate narrative in regard to the Battle at Athens. The soldier was N. T. Roberts who was held in reserve during the battle and did not actually fight, but witnessed the operation.

It is from the Western Historical Manuscript Collections - Columbia, MO from the C1000 Broadhead collection - V1, F4 - pages 156 and 157 (Battles of the Civil War).
