Thank you for the information. The Allisons lived around Linn Creek and Mack's Creek. I had thought that Hugh Allison still lived in Camden Co. at the time of the murders, but I now see that by 1863 he was living in neighboring Benton County.

Hugh's children were: Malinda, Richard, Mary, Catherine, Louisa, Elizabeth, Sarah, James and Benjamin. The youngest, Ben, would have been about 14 at the time of the murders. I think that his brother, James, and two of the sisters were still living at home. Some of the Allison girls married into the Howard and Creach families.

Hugh's brother (Willis Allison) was my gg-gf. His children had some of the same names as Hugh's, so it gets confusing.

Now that I know the murders occurred in Benton County, I think I'll have a better chance of finding out more info. I remember finding one small article about this incident in a volume that I found at the Clayton Genealogy Library in Houston back in 1979. I believe it was excerpts from Missouri newspapers.
