The Mo. State Archives site at http://www.sos.mo.gov/archives/soldiers/ lists his service in several units, age 37 in 1862, killed Little Rock by fall from horse 1864.

He is listed as an Ohio born lawyer in St Louis censuses of 1850 and 1860, apparently then single, living in boarding houses.

The WorldConnect genealogical site at http://worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi has a couple of listings for him, indicating he was married twice, in 1853 and late 1860.

And the index to Union Pension files lists that of his surviving minor Susan Manter, probably child of the second marriage.
