Moved from Civil War Flags Message Board

My Great Grandfather, Joshua Jarrell, and his brother Elijah Jarrell, enlisted in the 8th Missouri Infantry. At some point in time he was captured and he became a "Galvanized Yankee". Can any one put a date as to when this may have occured. I have his Union records from both the 3rd Missouri S.M. Cav. (2nd Organization) a private and the 14th Missouri Cavalry as a corporal. Any hint as to where I sould begin looking for his records from the 8th. I also have a small pocket journal he carried with all the names of Co. D of the 14th. It indicates he was in Kansas at several Forts. This trip began at Benton Barracks, MO and proceeded to Ft. Riley, Ft. Zarah, Ft. Larned, Ft. Dodge and returning to Ft. Leavenworth.
