Re: Quantrill's former Guerrillas in Texas ?

In the Texas State Library - Archives you can find a pardon for Pink Higgins. J.P. Higgins was convicted of theft of cattle in Lampasas at the November 1891 Term of Court. He arrived at the prison at Rusk on February 17, 1892. He served 1 year and 10 months of a 2 year sentence. He was discharged on November 16, 1893.

There is more information about him in the convict ledger. I beleive that after serving time in prison he moved his family away from Lampasas and took work as a range detective for Spur Ranch after his release form prison. There are many gaps in the life story of Pink Higgins.
