Thanks for your assistance. A Mississippi veteran living in Arkansas would most certainly have applied in his current state of residence. You're also right that the good folks at the Arkansas state archives would glad to answer questions about anyone who applied for a pension there.

However, let me suggest that simply posting the inquiry on one of Jim Martin's message boards should be enough to elict a response. The Arkansas message board would be the best place to post. Here's why.

Like many states, Arkansas has published an index of Confederate pension applications. If memory serves, this book includes the name, military unit for which service was claimed and date/place of the application. I have used it myself dozens of times to answer questions like this one. Furthermore, copies of the applications are available through a message board service which I'm sure you've noted at the top of this page.
