Nita, what a joy it is to read a post about the Liberty Guard! My GGrandfather, Will Underwood and my GGrandmother's brother J.M. Lea, were both Lts serving under your GGGrandfather Capt Nix and both had two other brothers serving with them. There is also a fellow in Houston that I have met, can't think of his name off hand, that is a great Nephew to General Featherston. What a small world we live in! I would love to see any pictures that you may find of Company E 22nd Mississippi. I have a feeling they are not out there though unless they are reunion pics. The closest I have is a photo of Will Underwood about one year after being pardoned and on his wedding day.He was still quite lean from his service and incarceration on Johnson Island but was a handsome man. I wish a had a photo of him in his uniform.
