I have never found a book about Columbus in the War of NA, a local historian has assembled much information from many sources and is in the process of writing a book about it.

A couple of interesting fact about Columbus:

There are over 2000 Confederate Veterans buried in Columbus, most victims of the Battle of Shiloh. There are about 200 Confederate Officers buried in Columbus including five Confederate Generals.

There is a myth that Columbus was spared any battles of the War of NA because it was a hospital town. Not quite so! Columbus was also home of a Confederate Arsenal (see http://fragile-legacies-of-dixie.blogspot.com/2006_04_01_fragile-legacies-of-dixie_archive.html). Three times the yanks gave the order to burn Columbus, but each time they were met by a gentleman named Nathan Bedford Forrest. They never made it to Columbus!
