CONFEDERATE PRIDDY'S

I'm interested in establishing eligibility for collateral membership in the Sons of Confederate Veterans. My great grandfather, John Calhoun Priddy (born 1847) apparently did not serve in the War. However, he had older brothers: Dixon (or "Dickson") born 1836, William (born 1838) and Thomas (born 1842). Their father was John F. Priddy (married to a Mary Walden (or Waiden)), himself the son of Richard Priddy, Sr. and Judith Forester). The family moved back and forth between Mississippi and Lawrence County, Alabama; but at the time of the War they all lived in Mississippi. The Priddy Family Genealogy Home Page has a listing of Priddy's serving in the Civil War, and does include a "Dixon" in the Talahatchie Rifles. Dixon Priddy's name also shows on page 13 (Tallahatchie Rifles roster) of the following Tallahatchie website:

However, a Sons of Confederate Veterans genealogist couldn't establish from available records a "Dixon" serving in any Mississippi units, so I must wonder at the accuracy of above website's information. His listing did however include 3 "Thomas Priddy's" and 4 "W. Priddy's" (one or all of which might be William). Any information on Confederate soldier Priddy's from my specific lineage would be greatly appreciated, most especially so if it includes any documentation which could establish my eligibility for collateral membership in the aforementioned organization.

Thanks, John Priddy, Colonel, USMC(Ret).
