Re: Uriah Jones Med. Dir. Camp Watts, AL

I doubt due to the date this might be of help but, the Medical Director for the Army of TN.Dr.Samuel Stout was in charge of several hospitols in ALA. including Montgomery,Notasulga,Auburn,Opelik, etc. by the fall of 1864. He through his daughters donated the bulk of his records around 1500lbs. to the University of Texas at Austin, some at Emory University Atlanta, Ga.and several private collectors, etc. There is a complete bibliography in Glenna Schroeder-Lein's book," Confederate Hospitols on the Move".The only reason these records survived was because Dr.Stout collected tried to send to his home in TN.never made it. Latter located in Macon GA. took possecion again and held privately the daughter donating some as late as the mid 1950's.
You should read the book if for nothing more then a better understanding of how the Confederate Medical Dept.functioned.
