Another soldier found......

While reading over Ron's work "Lest We Forget" there is a mention in a letter to George Lea (Co C, 7th Miss Inf) from Iverson Green Lea (Co K, 33rd Miss Inf) that "A.S.M. Ratcliff of our company died here yesterday of fever-His remains were sent home to day to be buried at W.L. Huff's."
The letter is dated July 20, 1862 from a "Camp near Grenada"

There is no marker for him in the William Huff cemetery here in Amite Co, so I will order a VA marker for him.

There is also mention of 2 more soldiers' remains that are brought home to Amite Co, but am doing the research to see where and if they are marked. They are J.W. Foster, Co B, 33rd Miss Inf and Richard H. Smith, Co E, 22nd Miss Inf (Richard died at home on furlough Aug 22, 1862, 144 years ago from yesterday!)

Just thought I would share!

Virgil
