In Response To: Re: Irish of MIssissippi ()

May I add what I have always understood to be Irish Mississippians: Andrew Jackson (A. J.) Hemphill who served in the 31st MS; he was from French Camp, Choctaw Co. The Hemphill brothers(Charles and Phillip Walker Hemphill) came from Floyd Co, GA in perhaps the 1830's. AJH, son of Charles, was my gg grandfather.

Sanford Venable (S. V.) Hughston served in the 1st MS Cavalry Reserves. He was also from French Camp, through Floyd Co. (Rome) GA. The name originally was Huston. SVH was also my gg grandfathe. SVH and AJH's children, Robert J. Hughston and Kate Rebecca Hemphill being my g grandparents.

If anyone has info on these kin, their units or their Irish ties,I would appreciate it.

Thanks, Edwin Hughston Rea
