Re: Mississippi Territory Militia (1813)

Bill,

I do not have the 17th Regiment (Lt. Col. William Bates) of Mississippi Militia's muster roll. I do not have the 17th as a unit in any actions only that it existed on the list of Mississippi Territory Militia Organization, 1814. Captain William Bates (and company) is listed in 1813 in Major Smoot's Battalion of Mississippi Militia, fought at the Battle of Burnt Corn.

Was the 17th actually mobilized? I have three Wares listed all in the 6th Regiment of Mississippi Militia, one is listed as an officeer, a Lieutenant Lard Ware in Nixon's Regiment. I have one Witherington listed, a Gabriel Witherington, private, listed in both the muster rolls of the 6th and 7th Regiments of Mississippi Milita. Did your William Witherington, or his widow have a pension application on record; recieve any bounty or bounty land from the Federal Government in the mid 1800s? Any pay, furlough, draft or discharge records?

I have lots of Kings listed.
