My g-g-g grandfather Alexander Speer was a Keystone Confederate; he moved to Mississippi in the late 1840's to help build the Southern Railroad, married a local girl from Clinton, and settled near Brandon. During the war he was Captain of Company A, 3rd Mississippi Cavalry (State Troops).
