Virgil, I found us a new cousin, at least I never knew about his service. Great-grandpa John Roberts' brother, David Wesley Roberts was the father of this man's wife. Booth says he deserted at one point but his notes end there and you know how that goes. Evidently he got the record squared away as he drew a Confederate pension from Texas.
