Camp Douglas death rolls

Hi all;

I have recently acquired a book that lists all deaths by alphabetical name, regiment, company and date of death at Camp Douglas, Chicago Ill. 1862-1865.

I will be happy to look up any person listed by name on the list, I cannot look per regiment as there are over 4,450 persons listed as have died and interred in OakWoods Cemetery.

Interesting fact is there were several civilians who died there and several were fron,Illinois, even one "servant" to a confederate officer.

Anyone on the list in the Chicago area who could assist me in obtaining a photo of my ancestors name ( Willis J. Sanders, 16th Miss )on the monument would be greatly appreciated. I contacted the Oakwoods Cemetery and they acted like I was crazy.

Regards;

Ken Chrestman
