Y'all drop me a line. I have full details on Richard H. Allen. I am a direct descendent, not that it matters. He was not a CSA general, although did serve in some official capacity during the War of Northern Agression. His title of general came from his work with the TN militia and was probably an honorific. His eldest son, William Bethel Allen, was killed during the Mexican American War; there is a monument to him on the town square in Lawrenceburg, TN. A younger son, also named Richard, served in the CSA in the 22nd or 23rd Miss. Infantry regiment. It was called the "Kossuth Rifles."

General Richard's will from 1876, of which I have a copy, seems to refuse to acknowledge the Emanicpation Proclamation. Shall we say he was an unreconsituted southerner.

All the best to you.

Chris Allen
