You are totally correct about it not being much of a mystery. All I could recall though was bits and pieces of information.
The folks who were interested in whatever I could find are actually cousins of mine. But little ole school teacher me, just does not really keep up with everything, so I need to ask sometimes.
That was an excellent site. You are so correct in that there was a strong resemblance.
I have this long lost cousin in Oklahoma who shared with me about two years back about how her ancestor had presented Nathan Bedford Forrest with his horse, the one whom he was riding in the statue pose in Memphis. It seems one of the supporters of the cause gave it to Forrest as a gift and the man promptly said he could not take such a fine horse. So they made a trade and he gave the man from Mississippi his Bible.
