Jim, thank you for posting this history. I live in Atlanta and have deep roots in Mississippi. I'll pass this history on to my children and grandchildren so they may hopefully understand the significance of the sacriface of their forefathers who wore the gray, with pride and hornor, for a cause we can only hope to grasp but a glimse of it's meaning, to their hearts and souls. Reading and following the history of Mississippians from Vicksburg to Atlanta brings tears to my eyes and a warmth to my heart.
