Re: Going Home
In Response To: Going Home ()

My ggfather James Monroe Wilson Co F 24th Bn Mississippi Cavalry was pardoned at Gainesville, Alabama. He told my
grandfather about riding back home to Claiborne County, Mississippi and the Nit Flies got so bad they killed his horse. This was somewhere around Forest, Ms. He walked the
rest of the way home.

Does anyone know if pardoned cavalrymen were allowed to keep their horses?

Happy New Year everyone and keep the messages coming.

Hal
