I am searching for information on my Gr Grandfather, JAMES O. CHAPMAN, and any information available on the units he was connected with in MS during the CW.

J.O. CHAPMAN enlisted in Company E, 3rd Battn., Infantry, Mississippi State troops, Feb. 4, 1863, at Starkville, MS. His unit was surrendered at Vicksburg on July 4, 1863 and he was paroled shortly thereafter. It appears that he again enlisted at Columbus, MS, in Company F, 6th Mississippi Cavalry, and mustered into service at Houston, MS, Oct. 31, 1863. I have obtained his Service records but there is no further information after his induction in Houston, MS.
