You can never be sure of anything but I believe
the State of Miss paid some pensions as early
as some time in the late 1890s; however, the
bulk were paid starting in the early 1900s; a
couple here as early as 1890: Edmund Dossett,
27th Miss 1890, Covington County; wife Frances
M. Dossett drew his pension in 1900 and another
wife, Jane in 1924; but most all I have seen
were after 1900.
