What is "(Un)Subscribe"? The MSCWMB Digest

For those of you who are new to the "History-Sites.Com" message boards, the "(Un)Subscribe" feature allows you to receive a daily list of the messages posted on this site. It does not put you on a generic mailing list, is not accessible by visitors to the site and will not be sold or shared with and other private or commercial interests.

The digest allows you to "keep up" with the postings here and includes links to respond to the poster without coming to the site. The MSCWMB Digest is an ideal way for "busy" people with varied interests to follow the postings on this site, so I'd encourage you to include your email address as a subscriber.

At anytime you may remove yourself from the list or ask me to do so. I hope you'll take advantage of this valuable feature.

Jim Martin

MESSAGE: (#16) 7th Regt. Miss. Inf. History

Hello to all my fellow researchers and friends. For those who have not seen my
messages on the other Mississippi Civil War message boards, I say join us and
help us to remember our Southern Patriots and the sacrifices they made for
their families and country.
My research focuses on the men and boys of the 7th Miss. Vols./7th Regt. Miss.
Inf. Any and all information relating to their pre war, wartime and post war
lives is of value in the writing of their regimental history.
Our goal is to publish their regimental history as a biographical essay
written in their words and from the viewpoint of a great great grandson,
nephew and cousin of men in four companies of the regiment.
At this time we have over ten letter collections, four diaries, a near
complete roster for all companies as well as a chronological listing of their
locations throughout the War.
Appendices, indexes are already available for several of the letter
collections and diaries and a thorough bibligraphy and index will be included
to aid in searches for anscestors.
We are also collecting samples of documents used by these men, pension
records, requisitions for supplies, requests for furloughs as well as photos.
We welcome "look ups" for serious researchers as well as genealogical queries.
We always need volunteers to review rosters, transcribe letters and documents
and to edit material.
Send inquiries to;

Ron,
I'm glad you're here. I'll have the "Ongoing Research Projects" page working
by this weekend so you can more permanently post this information there and
I'd also suggest including this valuable research information in your "User
Profile".
If you need any help, just tell me.
With best regards,
Jim Martin

MESSAGE: (#19) 33rd Mississippi Infantry Regiment

<http://history-sites.com/cgi-bin/boards/mscwmb/index.cgi?rev=19>
AUTHOR: Sidney W. B....
DATE: Tuesday, 7 January 2003, at 8:24 p.m.
I have written the regimental history of the 33rd Mississippi Infantry and it
is posted on the web at http://www.angelfire.com/ms2/33Miss as a preliminary
project. The written book with more information is ready to go to the printer
except for the maps. As soon as my cartographer gets those back to me.....off
it goes. If anyone has any unpublished letters or diaries or family lore
relating to the 33rd they would like to share for publication in the book then
it is not quite too late yet. Let me know ASAP. To Mr. Martin, "Thanks" for
putting this site out for us.

MESSAGE: (#20) Search for J.O. CHAPMAN

<http://history-sites.com/cgi-bin/boards/mscwmb/index.cgi?rev=20>
AUTHOR: Glen Hamilton
DATE: Tuesday, 7 January 2003, at 8:28 p.m.
First: Thanks to you Jim for putting up this web site. I know I share with
many others who appreciate your effort.
I am searching for information on my Gr Grandfather, JAMES O. CHAPMAN, and any
information available on the units he was connected with in MS during the CW.
J.O. CHAPMAN enlisted in Company E, 3rd Battn., Infantry, Mississippi State
troops, Feb. 4, 1863, at Starkville, MS. His unit was surrendered at Vicksburg
on July 4, 1863 and he was paroled shortly thereafter. It appears that he
again enlisted at Columbus, MS, in Company F, 6th Mississippi Cavalry, and
mustered into service at Houston, MS, Oct. 31, 1863. I have obtained his
Service records but there is no further information after his induction in
Houston, MS.
Hope someone can help.
Thanks much
Glen
