1st MS Cavalry (Adams-Wood reg)

Thanks for informing me of this message board. I was really excited to be included.

My Ancestor was John W. Douglass of Starkville, MS. He enlisted with the 1st MS Cavalry, Co. E Woods Regiment). He served 1861-1862 and in October 1862 was put on the sick roll till late 1863, when he was removed from the roll. One source I found listed the cause as deafness.

If anyone has any information about Co. E, between 1861-1863, especially any pictures or any information specific to my GGGrandfather, I would greatly appreciate hearing from you.

Also as a reenactor, I would also like any information about the Co. itself. What uniforms were they issued? Was there a standard uniform? What weapons, if any were government issue? What style saddle was common for the Confederate Cavalry? Did they use McClellans?

Again, thanks for any help.
