I have been doing some research on this unit and I came across this about Company F of this regiment. Company F, Cummings Grays, mustered into State service at Itawamba City, September 1, 1861. Now, Cummings Grays is the nickname of this company but, who or what is Cummings? Where is Itawamba City? I figure that it would be in Itawamba County and could it be the city of Fulton? Can anyone help me out on this?
