One other thought. The 1862 enlistment papers I have reflect the requirements of the Confederate Conscription Act passed in April 1862. Those men required to enroll by this act who voluntarily reported into camps to enroll were paid a $50 bounty which they had to sign for. The top half of the 1862 enlistment paper presents personal data about the soldier and the enlistment oath, while the bottom portion pertains to the payment of the $50 bounty. The enrolled soldier has to sign in two places on this form.
