About April 29, 1863, Grierson's Raid passed through the Hazelhurst area. On May 1, 1863, Lt. Col. William D. Blackburn of the 7th Illinois Cavalry was wounded and captured on the Tickfaw River near Osyka, Miss. I've never heard Grierson's Raid called "Blackburn's Raid" instead.
