Re: Newton J. Osborn1st Ms and 7th Ms Infantry
In Response To: Co. D First Ms Infantry ()

Looking for a researcher who is familiar with the 1st Miss. Infantry to help varify information about a canteen belonging to N.J. Osborn(also listed as Osborne) 1st Miss Inf. that is in the possession of the Atlanta History Center.

Newton J. Osborn was also a member of Co H 7th Miss., but was discharged soon after the battle of Munfordville, KY (Sept 1862) as were amny of the men of the 1st Miss. who returned to their original regiment.

The History Center has no other informnation as to where the canteen originated. If we can find a family member or knowledgeable researcher, we may be able to give this man's property a meaninful citation in the display at the Museum.
