Re: 43rd Mississippi Infantry Co. H

All -

My GGGF was named Meriman Pound (shows as "Merriman" and "Pounds" in some records). He was a Captain in the "Mooreville Darts" in 1861 and was on leave recuperating from wounds when the unit was surrendered (Ft. Donaldson?). When recovered, he went to West point and re-enlisted and was Captain in Company H of the 43rd. In the fall of '64 he was released due to cumulative effects of wounds and subsequently appointed a Ltc by Governor of Georgia (Provost or some garrison duty?). Eventually he was a legislator in MS as the history is told.

Can anyone verify or add to this outline? Also, I am seeking his gravesite.

Keep the faith, compatriots!

Bill
