My great-great grandfather served in 5th MS infantry (state troops), company D. I found a picture of an individual in uniform from around the time of the civil war, but the uniform looks nothing like a civil war uniform?! I'm not sure if it's my great-great grandfather or not.

Any thoughts about how to go about figuring out what type of uniform this is and whether it's the confederate relative?
