George,
A follow-up on John McMath. I don't believe he was ever married. His brother Ambrose was married to Mary E. Spann in 1844 and had 5 children. The confusion comes on the 1860 Census of Black Hawk P.O., Carroll County, MS sheet 11. It lists A.E McMath, John H. McMath, Mary E., etc.
I think John and Ambrose were partners in their farming endeavor, and the enumerator entered them as such, in alphabetical order, which looks as if John and Mary are married. I show no marriage records for John at all.
thanks again for all the help
For our Heritage,
George
