John S. McMath, From The Carroll County Mississippi Area. Enlisted in Stanfords Mississippi Battery on 2/28/1862 in Columbus KY. as a Pvt. Served though out the war with the Battery, was paroled on 5/10/1865, in Meridian, Mississippi, as a Cpl., with the remainder of the Battery. Came home to Carroll County, Mississippi. Married Parthenia Elizabeth Scruggs on June 20, 1867 in Duck Hill, Carroll County, Mississippi. Daughter Edwina Blanche McMath, Born in 1868 in Nebraska. After marriage John and his wife evidently moved to Nebraska with in a year, and setteled in Denton County, Texas in the late 1870's. John S. McMath died on either 5/4/1916 or 9/25/1925, He is buried in Denton, Denton County Texas.
