I am still sorting thru my infomation but did want to clarify 2 things. First, there is an age difference between what you have on the enlistment and what I have for John George's birth date. I show he was born in 1845. The 1860 census lists him at 15 years old living with his parents. 1870 census shows him living in Laurens County with Charlotte Rook and their childen. He is listed as being 25 years old and she is 31 years old. Again, both compatible with him being born in 1845.

(Perhaps he lied on the application to make himself seem older since he was going in with a little bit of rank.)

Secondly, Walter Lipford, John George and Charlotte's youngest son, is found on the 1880 census in Marion County Florida living as a "boarder" in the home of James W. and Elizia Carter. John George's mother, Elizabeth Carter, and James W. Carter were 2nd counsins. They were born 3 years apart in the same area of Chester District, SC. James W. Carter was living in the same area as Amanda Joyner Lipford in the 1880 census after John George supposedly fled.
