I'm searching for the Confederate military records of my 3 great-grandfather, Benjamin S. Smith. I was told that he was in the Civil War and died of typhoid. He was from Lafayette Co., MS. His wife Nancy and children were found living with some of his siblings and parents, Malcom & Clara Smith in Lafayette Co. on the 1860 census. He and his brother James may have enlisted together, but do not know what unit. I know this isn't much to go on, but if anyone could help me find his service records, it would be greatly appreciated.
