Have been looking for William J Williams from Chickasaw County who enlisted supposedly with the 41st Mississippi Infantry (Pontotoc Grays), Co F who according to family information died at Shiloh. However, I do not find the 41st being located at Shiloh. Since he was from Red Lands, Chickasaw County, but near the Pontotoc Co line, he may have been in the 24th or 27th Miss Infantry raised in Chickasaw.

I have been given info on a younger William J Williams who served in the 41st who was married to a Ruthie rather than to Mary Jean(s), sometimes listed as a Cunningham (her stepfather's name). My W J Williams left five daughters.
