Primary source accounts seem to indicate that the Confederates fell back in disorder through the town, with 1600 cavalry joining them, the infantry would have fled ahead of the cavalry.

I actually know very little about Captain (J.M.) Hall's troopers ... the compendium seems to contradict itself as to the origin and unit for his squadron, and everything I know about it is taken from Grabau and the battleofraymond.org website so far. If you find any information about Captain Hall or his unit, please let me know.
