Well I was just finishing rereading your earlier post. One Whitworth abandoned and one taken to Vicksburg. My scenario works only if Hebert was wrong about the Whitworth being abandoned. It sure seems unlikely to me that they would have abandoned such a valuable piece as a Whitworth Rifle. John
