This is the same man, but he survived the war.
He is listed as J.R. Elrod (Company B) in the final surrender roll of the 11th. & 17th. Ark. Cavalry.

He is listed in the 1860 & 1870 Saline County (AR) Census.
He passed away between 1870 & 1880 in Yell County where his wife (Oneida) is listed as a widow.
