David - The Cooper letter of 3 Jan. '63 very clearly refers to the 5 Whitworths just landed at Wilmington; there were already 2 in Vicksburg, so this would make a third. If it didn't make it to Mississippi then it got lost since the others made it to their destinations (tho I don't know about the navy gun). I'd have to dig through notes, but my recollection is that the "four heavy Whitworths" were in fact Blakelys. John
