I found a reference to an engagement on February 4th, 1864 between the U.S. 2nd Brigade, 4th Div., 17th Army Corps, and some Confederate unit on the old Champions Hill battle ground. Does anyone know what Confederate unit this was? They had artillery that had good effect.
