Whitworth at Raymond, another piece in the puzzle

The quartermaster and ordnance wagons for the 124th Illinois reported parking under a shade tree, unaware that they were within range of enemy cannon. Suddenly, a single shell from Bledsoe's battery, about 1.2 miles distant, hissed overhead, followed by a second shell a short time later, and then a third, at which time they packed up and retired to the rear.

The range suggests a rifled cannon had targeted the wagons, but would the hissing of the shells suggest that it was not a Whitworth?
